Default E170 vs 738

Since most of us are getting ready or allready doing the 73 type, I was wondering what your opinion was about getting rid of the E170..personally I say it's well a head of it's time and I'm rather sad we don't get the 190/5's

Multiple answers are possible there a no wrong answers here....

Smile E170 vs 737

In terms of the decision to choose the 737-800 over the embraer, it all comes down to costs and markets.

Generally, the E170 carries half the passengers of a 737 , 78 seats versus up to 189 seats.its because of this that the E170 can deliver more frequencies and also naturally has lower operating costs. The 737-800 generates extra capacity, so instead of flying 12 times a week, they might decide to fly 4x weekly with higher capacity on that sector, targetting a more leisure based clientele. Business passengers will pay more for more frequencies, if you get what i mean...

Costs wise, its all down to the more distribition, 189 passengers can lower the average fares better, (e.g. if the cost of a secotr is 10,000 euro, more passengers lead to lower fares ryanair has proven this very well.) its economies of scale to a degree.

there is one problem with this, and thats the fact that the market may not have enough demand for this kind of service. this is where the 170 comes in, and right-sizes the demand to the market (less bums needed on seats to produce a profit, because of the 170s lower operating costs)

So, the change in type might be an upsize in te market.

what have the e170 loads been like, and the fares going with them?

(personally i love the e170s, for lotsa reasons, so i think its a bad idea)
